The Northwest Wind Symphony’s winter concert takes place at Corbet Theatre on January 20, 2018, at 7 p.m. The concert features French music by composers such as Faure, Gounod, and Saint-Saens. The night’s repertoire spans a variety of styles, from marches and fanfares to operas and solos.
The evening also features award-winning homegrown artists with a connection to Central Washington University, known for its excellent music program. Louie Blaser, Centralia High School alumnus, local music educator, CWU graduate, and NWWS principal clarinetist, will guest conduct. Lesley O’Donel, W.F. West alumna and CWU graduate, will perform the Chaminade flute concertino, a well-known solo piece loved by flutists for its melodies and challenging technical passages.
Tickets are $12 general admission at the door, or in advance from Book ‘n’ Brush in Chehalis. Student tickets are free with a paying adult. For more information, visit www.northwestwindsymphony.org.
CORRECTION: Our original event posting listed Larry Gookin as a guest conductor. Mr. Gookin will join us for our April concert, not the upcoming January concert. Visit our concerts page for more details about these concerts.
